US animal proteins prices were steady day on day on Monday January 6 amid an impending port strike.
A January 15 deadline is set for the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and employers to sign a labor agreement, dependent on automation at 36 US East Cost and Gulf Coast ports. The possibility of another port shut down, similar to the three-day strike that occurred in October 2024, has most animal protein participants hesitant on export changes for the month.
If no agreement is met by the deadline, sources anticipate it will impact US stocks and trade values.
