Meat and bonemeal spot prices in the US dropped further on Wednesday January 8. A sizable number of distressed loads of both porcine and ruminant meat and bonemeal were traded on the day due to the winter weather storms across the country and weaker export demand, sources told Fastmarkets.
Fastmarkets’ daily price assessment for meat and bonemeal, porcine, Missouri River was $240-300 per short ton on Wednesday, down from $250-310 per ton on Tuesday January 7. Distressed loads as low as $150 per ton were reported to Fastmarkets.
Fastmarkets’ daily price assessment for meat and bonemeal, porcine, Indiana was $300-360 per short ton on Wednesday, widening from $325-350 per ton on Tuesday.
