Additional 45z guidance expected on January 10

Additional 45z guidance expected on January 10

Information addressing the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) is expected to be released on Friday January 10, according to several sources speaking with Fastmarkets.

The Biden administration is expected to provide guidance relating to the 45z tax credit, according to one source. The 45z credit replaces the $1 per gallon Blenders Tax Credit that expired at the end of 2024. However, GREET guidance on modelling the credit has been missing.

Not having the guidance in place has moved much of the biodiesel industry into taking downtime to wait and see if production economics become viable in the near term without the BTC.

Biofuel producers are hoping to see either some promising news on the 45z or a return to the BTC.
