US animal protein prices were steady on Thursday January 9. With the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) port strike avoided, sources expect unease to diminish to a degree. However, trade volumes have been light with winter weather storms across the US and the release of the monthly USDA World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimate (WASDE) report due on Friday January 10.
November US dog, cat food export
The US Census Bureau’s dog and cat food exports report, released on Tuesday January 7, indicated that November dog and cat food exports were valued at $208.51 million, higher by $21.54 million, or 11.5%, from October.
The year-to-date value in November was $2.31 billion, up by 3.8%, or $83.89 million, from the corresponding period in 2023.
