US weekly corn, soybean export inspections rise; wheat drops

Export inspections of US grains showed a decline for wheat, but an increase for soybeans and corn in the week to Thursday January 9, according to USDA data released on Monday January 13.

Corn export inspections reached 1.44 million tonnes, up by 64.3% from the previous week and by 50.7% year on year.

The top export destinations were Japan (450,147 tonnes), Mexico (404,287 tonnes), Spain (147,908 tonnes), Colombia (89,014 tonnes), Taiwan (79,757 tonnes), South Korea (70,666 tonnes) and Guatemala (55,022 tonnes).

Yellow corn made up the majority, with 1.39 million tonnes passing inspections, while 46,490 tonnes of white corn passed inspection.

Soybean export inspections totaled 1.35 million tonnes, up by 4.2% from the previous week and by 5.5% year on year.
