US weekly average ethanol production fell to 1.095 million barrels per day in the week to Friday January 10, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) report released on Wednesday January 15. This marked a decrease of 7,000 bpd from the previous week, but it was up by 3.9% year on year.
Ethanol stocks hit an eight-month high of 25.008 million barrels, up by 860,000 barrels week on week, but down by 2.7% year on year.
Demand for corn decreased by 0.6% from the previous week, but it was up by 3.9% year on year. Approximately 16.222 million bushels of corn per day were used for ethanol production.
Livestock feed production totaled 117,098 tonnes in the week to Friday. Distillers’ dried grain (DDG) production accounted for 104,143 tonnes, with the remaining amount consisting of 10,930 tonnes of corn gluten feed and 2,024 tonnes of corn gluten meal.
