Poultry by-product pet grade prices lower on winter weather effects

Most US animal proteins traded in prices ranges on Tuesday January 21 that were steady from the preceding Friday.

Several market sources told Fastmarkets that limited trade volumes were seen on the first working day of the week, shortened by a national holiday on Monday, with winter storms and frigid weather affecting slaughter, trucking and employee availability.

Negative price pressure was indicated by some market sources for meat and bonemeal, with sellers still offering at increased prices.

Bloodmeal was flat for the day on Tuesday but had underlying support from active demand and tight inventory.

The only product to show a noteworthy price adjustments was poultry by-product pet food (PBP PFG), which moved downward because of weather affecting slaughter levels, according to market sources.
