UCO, tallow prices continue to rise

UCO, tallow prices continue to rise

Technical tallow traded higher on Tuesday January 21, up to 52 cents per lb Chicago, which closed the gap with edible tallow.

Bleachable fancy tallow (BFT) was quiet in the Chicago market, but offers were heard in the “low 50 [cents per lb]” for product into the Gulf market.

“The market is really tight right now, it’s hard to find product,” one source said about the current BFT market.

Oleochemical, feed and renewable fuels are all showing strong demand for January and February BFT, which has supported the higher prices.

Used cooking oil (UCO) traded in a range of 48.5-50 cents per lb delivered US Gulf for trucks and rail cars for February shipment.
