US animal protein market steady ahead of IPPE

The US animal protein market was quiet on Friday January 24, with most buyers and sellers saying that they were taking a trading pause ahead of the International Production and Processing Expo (IPPE), held January 28-30 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Limited trade volume was reported to Fastmarkets for the week to Friday, keeping most US animal protein trade prices rangebound for the week. Negative price pressure was communicated to Fastmarkets for meat and bonemeal (MBM) from several sources, but limited trade volume kept most regional prices flat from the prior week.

The only product to show price moves week on week was poultry by-product pet food grade, due to the fluctuations in winter weather across the US impacting poultry slaughter levels, according to market sources.
