US animal fats and oils Gulf markets show continued price strength amid tight conditions

The US animal fats and oils markets were stable to higher on Tuesday January 28, supported by ongoing discussions of strong demand.

The Gulf Coast region has experienced notable strength in recent weeks, with prices continuing to climb on Tuesday.

Used cooking oil (UCO) traded higher throughout the day at 50 cents per lb, delivered Gulf, for spot and front-month product, with bids reported slightly above these levels.

Tallow into the Gulf was also talked higher, with offers heard at 51-52 cents per lb, delivered. Sources described the market as “very, very tight,” noting that many sellers appear to be in “no rush” to move material at current price levels.

Elsewhere in the FOB Missouri River market, choice white grease (CWG) prices were assessed in a broader range on Tuesday, with the upper end rising to 38-42 cents per lb.
