US organic milk exports climb

US organic milk exports climb

Organic dairy exports have grown considerably in recent years. Southern neighbor Mexico is the largest importer of organic milk from the US. This is another trade flow at risk due to the impending threat of tariffs on North American trading partners.

Overall organic milk exports increased 37% in 2024, after increasing 42% in 2023.  The chart below depicts the top trading partners, all garnering at least 1% of overall volume.  2024 data is still incomplete.

Organic dairy markets are growing in countries with an emerging affluent middle class, where dairy consumption is far higher than it was historically.  Vietnam’s organic markets will continue to grow, including domestic production where foreign operators have developed organic dairies alongside state run enterprises like Vinamilk.
