Limited international animal proteins trade keeps most prices flat week on week

The Australian, New Zealand, Indonesia and China animal protein markets were flat for the week to Thursday February 6.

Market sources have stated the Lunar New Year has limited demand for several products into the current week.

Meat and Livestock Australia reported cattle slaughter at 140,908 head in the week to January 24, up by 8,022 head year on year.

Year-to-date 2025 cattle slaughter in Australia was at 430,242 head, up by 76,311 head or 21.56% from 2024 slaughter for the respective time.

Fastmarkets assessed the weekly price of bloodmeal, 85 Pro, export, fca New Zealand at NZ$1,090-1,140 ($619-647) per tonne on Thursday, up from $1,130-1,160 per tonne on January 30.
