European feedstock market broadly stable; UCO, animal fats demand also stable

The European feedstock market did not show much change in the week to Thursday February 13, with price levels broadly stable for used cooking oil (UCO) and category 3 animal fats, while category 1 and 2 animal fats firmed a touch on consistent demand.

Sources reported buying interest for category 1 and 2 animal fats in a range of €800-820 ($830-850) per tonne on the DDP North-West Europe (NWE) basis, while offers were heard around €870 per tonne.

Prices for category 3 animal fats showed nearly no change, with sources expecting a drop soon, as the market has been overheated recently and has been increasing uninterruptedly since November 2024.

“What comes up, must come down. We already see some March trades booked in line with February prices, no premiums, and sellers are more open to Q2 dates negotiations,” a source told Fastmarkets.
