The Australian, New Zealand and China markets were flat for the week to Thursday February 13. However, market sources have communicated underlying price pressure from the diminished prices in the US, specifically on meat and bonemeal (MBM).
Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for meat and bone meal, bovine, export, cfr Indonesia was $455-465 per tonne for the week, down from $465-480 per tonne on January 16.
Meat and Livestock Australia reported cattle slaughter at 140,296 head in the week to Friday February 7, up by 15,465 head year on year.
Year-to-date 2025 cattle slaughter in Australia was at 692,310 head, up by 96,897 head, or 16.27%, from 2024 slaughter for the respective time.
