US wheat futures surge amid concerns over extreme cold conditions

Most grain prices on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange rose on Friday February 14. The March soybean futures contract jumped by 6.00 cents per bushel, settling at $10.36 per bu, while the March wheat contract increased by 22.25 cents per bu to $6.00 per bu.

Meanwhile, the March soybean meal contract surged by $3.20 per short ton to $295.90 per ton, and the March corn contract rose by 2.75 cents per bu to $4.96 per bu.

Corn and soybean futures showed moderate gains on Friday, driven by technical buying and some spillover support from soaring wheat prices. Wheat futures surged due to concerns over extreme cold conditions in the Black Sea region and parts of the US, which sparked an ample round of technical buying and short covering.
