Railcars of choice white grease (CWG) traded higher in the Chicago market on Thursday February 20, at 51 cents per lb, following recent gains in tallow and other regional fats in the US.
Meanwhile, in the Gulf, used cooking oil (UCO) prices continued to climb, reaching 54.0-54.5 cents per lb delivered, while Gulf tallow held steady at a 16-month high of 55 cents per lb.
The tallow market remains “extremely tight,” a source said, with limited availability and strong demand continuing to drive discussions.
Other notable activity was heard in the distiller’s corn oil (DCO) market. Trucks into the FOB Illinois/Wisconsin market traded higher at 52 cents per lb, while most other FOB Midwest prices remained in the range of 49-52 cents per lb for current- and front-month delivery.
