US weekly net soybean meal exports, sales retreat again

In the week to February 13, US net soybean meal and soybean cake sales and exports continued to decline but were above most analysts’ estimates, data released by the USDA showed on Friday February 21.

The report was delayed by a day due to the observance of the US Presidents’ Day holiday on Monday February 17.

At 316,900 tonnes, US soybean meal sales for 2024/25 were down by 6% from the previous week’s 336,700 tonnes and by 15% from the four-week average.

Sales increases were reported for Vietnam (177,600 tonnes, including 47,000 tonnes switched from unknown destinations), Japan (32,300 tonnes), Mexico (29,000 tonnes, including cancellations of 1,800 tonnes), Colombia (24,400 tonnes, including cancellations of 5,200 tonnes) and Morocco (20,000 tonnes).

These upticks were offset by cancellations to unknown destinations (43,400 tonnes), Costa Rica (6,000 tonnes), Belgium (4,400 tonnes) and El Salvador (200 tonnes).
