Export inspections of US grains showed a decline for corn, but an increase for soybean and wheat in the week to Thursday February 20, according to USDA data released on Monday February 24.

Corn export inspections fell to 1.13 million tonnes, down by 30% from the previous week and by 12% year on year.

The top export destinations were Mexico (315,386 tonnes), Colombia (264,006 tonnes), Japan (191,190 tonnes), Taiwan (71,192 tonnes), Vietnam (64,328 tonnes), Morocco (44,000 tonnes) and the Dominican Republic (41,215 tonnes).

Yellow corn made up the majority, with 1.037 million tonnes passing inspections, while 97,201 tonnes of white corn passed inspection.

Soybean export inspections totaled 858,679 tonnes, up by 18% from the previous week, but down by 19% year on year.
