Single species MBM prices rise; mixed species MBM continues to lag

Single species MBM prices rise; mixed species MBM continues to lag

Porcine meat and bone meal (MBM) prices were higher on Wednesday February 26, trading up to $280 per ton FOB Missouri River and Eastern Iowa/Illinois.

Sources reported that an increase in demand from areas with bird repopulations has helped to boost prices this week.

However, sources continue to report that demand is weak in the US Southeast as poor demand is mixing with export uncertainty to create pockets of excess supply.

Pure beef 50% packer MBM prices were higher on Wednesday as well, but mixed species MBM prices continue to lag, trading as low as $140-150 per ton FOB.

Pet food grade poultry by-product meal prices were unchanged day on day, but there were reports of building spot supply on export uncertainty.
