Beef production in Australia was above 140,000 head last week, driven by strong retail demand for beef. The higher slaughter is keeping the market well supplied with material for the nearby window. Tallow export prices are off US$15 from last week. New Zealand prices moved higher with production there off an estimated 30 – 50 percent. Historically, production would be steady to slightly lower heading into the winter season before downtimes kicked in.
