2021 Biofuel & 2022 Biodiesel Proposed Blending Requirements Sent to White House

The EPA is expected to conduct a notice-and-comment rulemaking process each year in order to determine the appropriate standards applicable in the following year. The statutory deadline for the final rule is November 30. In an effort to accomplish this deadline, EPA strives to issue a Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM) in the spring of each year.

The EPA sent the 2021 biofuel blending requirements to the White House for review on Friday, according to Politico.  The proposed rule will cover 2021 blending requirements for cellulosic biofuel, advanced biofuel, and total renewable fuel.  It will also include the proposed 2022 percentage standard for biodiesel.  Biodiesel standards are due 13 months in advance. 

The Biodiesel segment of the biofuels program is optimistically hoping to see higher blending requirements in 2022….
