April Biodiesel Imports & Exports Hit 40-Month High

 

April Biodiesel Imports Jump 78 Percent, Exports More than Double

The US imported 25.3 million gallons of biodiesel while exporting 22.4 million gallons during April, both of which were 40-month highs, according the US Census Bureau. Import activity was 78 percent over March import activity and 36 percent above the amount imported in April of 2019. Cumulative 2020 imports of 67.9 million gallons are four percent above the 2019 import pace through the first four months of the year. April imports were above the monthly two-year average of 14.5 million gallons.  Five countries shipped biodiesel during the month, which is up from three in March. Germany and Canada accounted for the majority of the volume, shipping 47 and 38 percent of the monthly volume. (As a side note, the Commerce Department world total did not match their country total.
