Animal fat prices steady on limited volume traded

Trading was relatively quiet to close out the week with most buyers and sellers well bought and well sold. There was an unconfirmed report of edible tallow trading higher in a one car equivalent, but the trade could not be verified as of press time.
Inedible tallow exports were reported at 23,625 MT for May by the FAS. Exports were up 40 percent relative to April and up just under 1,000 MT compared to May of 2019. Singapore was notably absent from the market in May. Mexico was the largest buyer at 10,557 MT followed by Morocco at 8,200 MT and Canada at 2,569 MT. Singapore was a large importer of yellow grease/UCO in May, taking in 37,161 MT. The Netherlands was the second largest importer at 8,443 MT followed by Mexico at 3,652 MT. Yellow grease exports were estimated at 59,350 MT, down 2 percent compared to April and up 46 percent compared to May of 2019.
