Biodiesel margins rise, but window of opportunity limited
Biodiesel margins continued to rise during the week to Friday November 22. The bean oil/heating oil (BOHO) spread boosted margins by falling to its lowest level since August 27.
Trading was mostly steady today with few changes reported in the market. Distillers corn oil prices did move higher with improved demand from the bio sector and a wide spread to soybean oil helping to push the market up. Ethanol production jumped to 958,000 barrels per day last week, up 5.5 percent compared to the week prior and down 7 percent compared to the prior three-week average. Distillers corn oil production is estimated at an average of 9.09 million pounds per day.
