Biodiesel margins rise, but window of opportunity limited
Biodiesel margins continued to rise during the week to Friday November 22. The bean oil/heating oil (BOHO) spread boosted margins by falling to its lowest level since August 27.
There were reports of higher offers in the BFT packer market today, but no trading was reported. Strong export demand and high temps affecting ffa levels this week have tightened up the spot availability. With that stated, outside of a bid for renderer BFT at 32 cents Chicago there hasn’t been any open interest reported. Hurricane Laura is gaining strength and is shutting down operations in east Texas and western Louisiana. Reports out of the New Orleans region have business moving along as usual.
Distillers corn oil trading moved higher today with strong demand mixing with higher soybean oil prices. Ethanol production was up slightly last week, estimated at 931,000 barrels per day by the EIA. DCO production is estimated at 8.8 million pounds per day, up 0.5 percent from last week and down 9 percent compared to year ago levels. Historically,…
