Organic Domestically Grown Crushed Soybean Meal Prices Are Elevated

Organic corn prices remain subdued and new-crop is ready to go in some southeastern states. Merchandisers see organic corn prices near $8.75 bushel in the South Central PA region with crops already coming up from Georgia. Unfortunately, this should continue to put downward pressure on mid-west prices. Merchandisers are saying that old crop corn is being delivered at prices as low as $6.0/$6.1 per bushel.

US domestic organic soybean prices are likely to remain elevated as demand for domestic crush and domestically grown beans continue to accelerate. While merchandisers and feed mills will always remain price-sensitive, organic soybean prices that are the U.S. domestically grown will continue to gain traction. Merchandisers are quoting US domestically grown organic soybeans that are crushed in the US as high as $900 per short-ton (for the meal).  This compares to imported organic soybean meal which is closer to $740/$750 per short ton

Domestic soybeans production is expected to rise in the 2020/2021 season according to The Jacobsen. The combination of a robust crop and less rain in the eastern mid-west is expected to increase production in the US by approximately 40%. Unfortunately, nearly all the domestic beans are precontracted which will keep many consumers reliant on imported organic soybeans or imported organic soybean meal.
