Crop Conditions Edge Lower with Adverse Weather

  • 97 percent dough
  • 79 percent dented
  • 25 percent mature
  • 61 percent good to excellent; 14 percent poor to very poor

The corn crop is progressing towards harvest with 97 percent of the crop in the dough stage, 79 percent dented, and 25 percent reaching maturity. Crop conditions continued to decline over the past week as drought conditions in Iowa worsened. Nationally, fields rated good to excellent fell a point to 61 percent while fields rated poor to very poor held steady at 14 percent. On the state level, good to excellent ratings in North Carolina fell 14 percent with significant declines also seen in Iowa, Kansas and South Dakota.
