Biodiesel margins rise, but window of opportunity limited
Biodiesel margins continued to rise during the week to Friday November 22. The bean oil/heating oil (BOHO) spread boosted margins by falling to its lowest level since August 27.
Ethanol production increase 19,000 barrels per day to a 941 million-barrel-per-day average during the week ending September 4, 2020. Ethanol and DDGS output increased to a six-week high while gasoline supply dropped to a 12-week low. Ethanol production was two percent over last week’s report but eight percent below levels at this time last year. DDGS output increased 1,807 metric tons per day but remains 7,799 MT below production from a year ago.
Gasoline supply declined 4.5 percent and was 14.5 percent below 2019 levels for the same weekly period. Ethanol stocks dropped by 4.3 percent, reaching a four-week low and are 14 percent below levels from a year ago. Ethanol imports discontinued for the first time in three weeks on the West Coast.
