Organic Corn Prices Remain Under Pressure

Organic Corn Prices Remain Under Pressure

Organic corn prices for old crop corn continue to slip below the $6 handle, especially for low test weight corn. New crop prices continue to hold the $6 line picked up at the farm, while the delivered price in many areas of the mid-west is hovering near $6.50. Organic corn prices on the west coast have also declined. Prices have traded as low as $310 per short ton and had recently traded in a range between $310 and $320 per short ton.

This would place prices near $8.65 per bushel, which is approximately the prices that the east coast is seeing. With a bumper crop of organic corn expected, a decline in imports will need to be achieved for prices to gain traction. The Jacobsen expects the volume of organic corn that is domestically grown to increase to 84% of the organic corn that is consumed in the US.
