According to the Energy Information Agency (EIA), the United States imported 27.9 million gallons of biomass-based diesel (D4) during July. Imports of D4 were down 37 percent from June and are 24 percent below the volume imported in July of 2019. D4 imports this year have reached 269.6 million gallons and are running 27.3 percent over 2019 volume through the same timeframe.
July biodiesel imports are 22 percent below June, but four percent over the amount received in July of 2019. Biodiesel imports were received from Canada, and South Korea. Canada provided 11.3 million gallons or 78 percent of the volume, while South Korea shipped 3.2 million gallons, or 22 percent of the total. Cumulative 2020 biodiesel imports have reached 119.7 million gallons and are 18 percent over Jan through July 2019 shipments.
