Renewable Diesel Use Surges 49% in September – EPA

 

What Pandemic? Biomass-Based Diesel Consumption Up 12% During September

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reported renewable fuel consumption edged higher in September relative to August. Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) credit generation increased 2.5 percent from August with 1.63 billion credits recorded. RIN generations was 55 percent above the April pandemic low.  Volumetric consumption of 1.47 billion gallons was 1.3 percent over August output and 60 percent over the pandemic low.  Biomass-based diesel with support from cellulosic production carried renewable fuel consumption higher during the month.  

Biomass-based diesel (D4) consumption increased 12 percent from August, led by a resurgence in renewable diesel. D3 Cellulosic production increased on a 10 percent climb in renewable compressed natural gas.   Both the D5 (Advanced Biofuel) and D6 (Conventional Renewable Fuel)…
