Cattle Slaughter Catch Up This Week, Holiday Break Ahead

The protein market was quiet to close out the month of November. 

Cattle slaughter finished last week at a robust 564,000 head, up 1.6 percent from a year ago and down 13.9 percent relative to the year prior.  This week, slaughter is projected to rebound, up to 670,000 head. Over the next six weeks, slaughter is forecast at an average of 592,000 head, down an average of 6.5 percent from the prior six week average and down 3.5 percent from last year.
