Organic Grain Prices Cannot Keep Up with Conventional Prices

 

Organic grain prices have not kept up with conventional prices. The 55% run-up in conventional corn prices has continued to narrow the spread between organic corn prices and conventional corn prices. Organic corn prices are now trading near $9.75 in Pennsylvania, with consumers are covered until March. Organic corn prices in the mid-west are mixed. Large dairies in Wisconsin are paying as low as $6 per bushel for small lots.

To move any size, merchandisers pay between $6.7 and $7.10 in Illinois.  Prices have moved up to $270 per Euro in Romania. The surge in conventional soybean prices has put a rocket ship under organic soybean prices. The Jacobsen has a difficult time finding offers for imported organic soybeans FOB India.
