Organic Corn Prices are Stuck as Transportation Cost Rise

 

Organic corn prices are steady with little activity to report. Prices delivered in the mid-west remain near $7.25, making it difficult for a farmer to receive $7 per bushel.  Organic corn in the Pennsylvania region is steady at $9.50/$9.60 per bushel or $340/$350 per short-ton. Transportation costs throughout the United States have picked up. Gasoline and diesel prices have also increased, making it more challenging to achieve the desired price. Diesel prices have increased 18% on average since the beginning of December and nearly 11% since the beginning of January.
