Packer Tallow Trades Higher, CWG Supported by Corn Market

Packer bleachable fancy tallow (BFT-P) traded higher today on a Chicago basis. Availability had been tight, but the offered material quickly traded this afternoon. Technical tallow was offered earlier in the week at the equivalent of 48.5 – 49 Chicago, but did trade. Sellers are seeing strong demand from the West Coast and Gulf markets for tallow, both BFT and technical.

Choice white grease prices are higher out of the Carolinas markets, but steady FOB Indiana and Missouri River. There have been smaller volume trades at lower prices, 32 – 33 FOB River and at higher prices, 38 – 38.5 FOB but the bulk of trading has been in the reported range.
