Biodiesel margins rise, but window of opportunity limited
Biodiesel margins continued to rise during the week to Friday November 22. The bean oil/heating oil (BOHO) spread boosted margins by falling to its lowest level since August 27.

It was an active close to the week with higher prices on yellow grease and the forward market for distiller’s corn oil. Sixteen cars of edible tallow traded at 56 cents Chicago today, up 5 cents from the last traded number on technical tallow.
Packer BFT remains discounted to palm stearin FOB Malaysia, which has historically meant that an export arbitrage is in play for BFT out of the US. There’s enough demand from the interior that sellers don’t need to rely on exports to keep the market buoyed. With BFT at a discount to palm buyers in the interior US have limited optionality.
