Biodiesel margins rise, but window of opportunity limited
Biodiesel margins continued to rise during the week to Friday November 22. The bean oil/heating oil (BOHO) spread boosted margins by falling to its lowest level since August 27.
Non-GMO soybean premiums have remained stable, hovering near $1.30-$140 over the local cash price. According to merchandisers, there has been some slight upward movement in non-GMO soybean meal, which is trading near $100-$110 over the local cash price.
Organic soybean meal prices remain elevated. Prices on the NCDEX closed near all-time highs, and there is no word yet as to whether TQ Cert will be allowed to begin to certify again in India. Merchandisers are quoting imported organic soybean meal at Baltimore customs cleared and on a truck near $1,150 per short-ton. This organic soybean meal value is for spot deliveries as well as Q2. On the west coast, the price of imported organic soybean meal imports is similar for custom cleared and on a truck.
