In early March, Agricensus reported an unusual shipment of corn from Argentina to the United States. For merchandisers and farmers, this information was anything but unique. Fast forward to Friday, 3/19, as Bloomberg and Reuters report that an unusual shipment of corn is making its way to the North Carolina coast.
Both media outlets are reporting that the CS Celeste vessel, which sailed from the port of Giresun in the Black Sea, is expected to arrive by tomorrow on the U.S. East Coast, according to North Carolina Ports’ sailing schedule. The vessel will be at least the second to arrive this year from Turkey, with a previous shipment carrying “organic cracked corn.” Since the ship is coming from Giresun, Turkey, The Jacobsen can assume that the organic corn product is organic cracked corn.
Bloomberg says that the shipment marks the most significant volume of U.S. imports of Turkish corn since 2018….
