One Year Into Pandemic, DDGS Output Continues to Struggle

 

Ethanol Stocks Build, Production Slows

Ethanol production faded during the anniversary week of the pandemics onset.  DDGS output declined as ethanol production slowed 49,000 barrels per day to a 922 thousand-barrel-per-day average during the week ending March 19, 2021. Weekly ethanol output was five percent below the prior week and eight percent under levels seen at this time last year. DDGS output fell 4,660 MT per day and was 7,894 MT’s per day below production from a year ago. 

Gasoline supply increased two percent but was 2.5 percent below 2020 levels for the same period. Ethanol stocks increased 2.2 percent to 21.8 million barrels, rising for the first time in five weeks.  Imports of sugarcane ethanol were absent on the West Coast for the fourteenth consecutive week.
