Organic grain prices in Europe are diverging. Many traders are off during the Easter week, so trading activity is light. While it’s nearly impossible to find proteins like bean meal, corn and wheat seem plentiful. Organic soybean meal from India is offered in Rotterdam at $995. There approximately a $40-45 transport/customs clearing fee which puts prices FOB India near $950. Merchandisers tell The Jacobsen that consumers are not panicking, and these levels are too rich. Feed mills appear to be covered until the middle of Q3. Organic corn prices are softer. Organic corn in Constanta is offered at 270-euros for old-crop and about the same for new-crop. There seems to be enough organic corn around that new-crop prices will likely feel downward price pressures. Organic feed wheat is also weaker, quoted near 220-230 euros per metric ton FOB Baltic ports.
