Biodiesel Imports 46% Below Last Year’s Pace While Exports are 60% Above
The US imported 10.7 million gallons of biodiesel during February while exporting 5.2 million gallons. February imports were 10 percent above January, while exports declined 45 percent from January according the US Census Bureau. Import volume is off to a slow beginning in 2021 with total volume off 34 percent compared with 2020. Biodiesel exports 60 percent higher than they were at this point last year.
The United States averaged 17 million gallons of imports per month during 2020 while exporting an average of 12 million gallons. Biodiesel imports came from Canada, South Korea, and France during January. Canada supplied 79.8 percent of the volume, South Korea sent 19.9 percent, and France contributed 0.3 percent.
