Soybean Crush Central Illinois – Crush Margin Continues Higher
The estimated crush margins, already at multi-year highs, pushed higher over the past week. Strong demand for soybean meal and soybean oil outpaced rising soybean costs, allowing the margin to continue its drive higher. In Central IL, soybean costs increased 1.7 percent, soybean meal values pressed 3.2 percent higher, and soybean oil prices increased 0.9 percent during the week ending June 3, 2021. Soybean oil prices rival highs last seen in March of 2008. The value received from oil and meal sales per bushel of soybeans crushed increased from $18.30 per bushel to $18.68, while soybean prices climbed from $15.39 to $15.65 cents per bushel. This allowed the margin to expand 12 cents to $3.03 per bushel. The crush margin is 3.8 percent over last week’s value and 152 percent above last year.
