Slower Hog Slaughter Expected to Tighten Grease Supplies

Hog slaughter dropped to an estimated 1.975 million head last week. The long holiday weekend cut into the hog harvest and the downtime at JBS exacerbated the tightness in production. Slaughter is expected to rebound this week to 2.325 million head, up 17 percent from last week.
