Renewable Diesel Imports Hit All-Time High for April

 

Biomass-Based Diesel Imports 28% Over 2020 Pace – EIA

According to the Energy Information Agency (EIA), the United States imported 63.5 million gallons of biomass-based diesel (D4) during April. Imports were 21 percent above March and 19 percent over April 2020. Renewable diesel imports reached an all-time high in April and exceeded biodiesel imports by 21.5 million gallons.  California remains the primary market for renewable diesel in the US with strong margins driving demand.  Renewable diesel represented 67 percent of total biomass-based diesel imports during the month and biodiesel 33 percent. The 2021 biomass-based diesel import pace is 28 percent over 2020 through April.

April renewable diesel imports of 42.5 million gallons were 13 percent above March and 53 percent over April of 2020.  Singapore is the only country currently exporting renewable diesel to the US. During the first four months of 2021, renewable…
