LCFS Credit Volume and Price Fall as Type 2 Trades Exit Market

LCFS credit volume reached a 23-Week low as Type 2 transactions were oddly absent from trading during the week ending August 15th.  The Jacobsen reached out to CARB for comment but did not hear back by publication time.  Type 2 transactions are generally contracted transaction that happen on a regular basis.  Weekly volume of 73,630 was 51 percent below the prior week and 84 percent uder the 2021 weekly average of 447,644.  Third quarter volume is 58 percent below second quarter volume and 11 percent below Q3 of 2020. There were 18 transactions during the week, up from 17 the week before. The weighted average price paid per credit fell $3.02 to $181.97. Of the 18 transactions posted, Type 1 transfers totaled 73,630 credits and Type 2 transfers were for 50,000 credits.
