Soybean Conditions Improve, Corn Falls, Cotton Tumbles

 

Declining Conditions in Texas Lead Cotton and Peanut Ratings Lower

Topsoil moisture levels for US cropland showed continued improvement over the past week while subsoil levels held steady. Topsoil moisture readings increased from 53 percent of fields having adequate moisture (or better) last week, to 56 percent this week.  Fields having adequate or better subsoil moisture remained unchanged at 51 percent. Minnesota’s drought situation improved over the past week. Minnesota had been experiencing extreme to exceptional drought conditions across 66 percent of the land, but this has improved to 44 percent last week as heavy rains moved across much of the state.

Corn conditions declined slightly over the past week.  US Fields rated good to excellent slipped a point to 59 percent while crops seen in poor to very poor condition remained at levels of 14 percent from the week prior.  Conditions ratings compare unfavorably…
