Third Quarter LCFS Credit Volume 54% Below Second Quarter

LCFS credit volume rebounded slightly moving into September. Weekly volume of 119,839 was 60 percent over the prior week but 72 percent below the 2021 weekly average of 426,229.  Third quarter volume is 54 percent below second quarter volume and 14 percent below Q3 of 2020. There were 19 transactions during the week, up from 18 the week before. The weighted average price paid per credit increased $0.27 to $182.04. Of the 19 transactions posted, Type 1 transfers totaled 74,913 credits and Type 2 transfers were for 44,926 credits. Type 1 transfers accounted for 68 percent of the transactions and 63 percent of the volume.

Credit transactions are expected to rise as the September 30 reporting period end date for the second quarter of 2021 nears.  Transactions typically remain high through the Quarterly publication date at the end of October.
