Outside of one car of tech tallow trading higher on a Chicago basis, the market was very quiet to close out the week. Sources indicated there is additional interest for Chicago CWG at 54 for October. The nearby market is still heavy with displaced material and it’s reasonable to expect the top side of the market to face additional downward pressure in the short term.
Weekly averages in the animal fat market were sharply lower compared to the week prior. Choice white grease had the biggest decline, falling 16 percent compared to the prior week’s average and down 14.8 cents per pound versus the weekly average from two weeks ago. BFT prices settled down, finishing the week at 63 cents per pound and the average down 3.6 percent compared to the week prior.
