Bearish Tones on a Combination of Storms, Freight, and Labor Hurdles

Bearish tones were witnessed for many of the items in the animal protein sector. NOLA ports continue to see disruptions from power limitations due to Ida and Tropical Storm Nicholas moving into the Houston area. This will continue to affect freight movement along the Gulf. Labor constraints for plants and rails have also created unsettled undertones, leading to some wide ranges.

Poultry-by-product pet-food grade witnessed a low of $575/ST for both the Southeast and Mid-South regions on reports of fully adequate to ample offerings from some participants. The high ends for porcine blood meal dropped from $1250/ST to $1200/ST FOB Indiana while Mo. River saw a high of $1150/ST for the day. Feathermeal also saw pressure with most pricing at or below $500/ST.
