LCFS Credit Volume Picks Up Heading Into Q2 Reporting Close

 

Third Quarter LCFS Credit Volume Trails 2020 Pace by 13%

LCFS credit volume continued to increase moving into September. Transactions are likely to accelerate approaching the September 30 reporting period close for the second quarter of 2021 and may remain high through the quarterly publication date at the end of October.

Weekly volume of 318,048 was 165 percent above the prior week but 25 percent below the 2021 weekly average of 423,224.  Third quarter volume is 51 percent below second quarter volume and 13 percent below Q3 of 2020. There were 17 transactions during the week, down from 19 the week before. The weighted average price paid per credit increased $7.81 to $189.85. Of the 17 transactions posted, Type 1 transfers totaled 72,348 credits and Type 2 transfers were for 245,700 credits. Type 1 transfers accounted for 53 percent of the transactions and 23 percent of the volume.
